Neighborlane About Us |
![]() |
Most popular websites today are designed to reach a broad audience with content based at the national level. This creates a large user base but virtually ignores some of the fundamental benefits that the internet was originally designed for. Neighborlane was formed to reach the overlooked market of small, targeted local audiences on the internet.
There have been many attempts by global companies to create niche based local websites, however most of these attempts involve simply creating a generic template with the hope that local neighborhoods will build their content. In the end they are simply trying to reach the same national audience while making it look like each website is unique. Marketing organizations and real estate agencies have also tried to create small local based websites. These attempts again are template based sites that try to appear as if they were designed for a local community but in reality are simply a mechanism to promote the organizations products or services.
We have been studying the internet for over 10 years to learn both what works and what does not work. We feel taking a simple approach to web design works best. A website that is easy to navigate while containing only the features that users seek always wins out over a flashy site with an overwhelming interface of options. This research has shown that discussion forums are one of the most popular features today. These forums are perfectly suited for the local market as user generated content provides a level of interaction that can not be achieved through any other source.
We are building websites centered around organized forums while providing additional complementing features. The goal of the website is to provide a fun and informative communication tool for your neighborhood that does not exist today. We welcome any comments and suggestions!
